Madonna And Angelina Charity Publicity Hounds
April 29th, 2008 by GiGiJulianne Moore appears to be seeking a little publicity herself by publicly criticizing Madonna and Angelina Jolie for deliberately seeking media attention for their humanitarian efforts.
Miss Moore herself is a pro-choice activist, sitting on the board of pro-choice organization Planned Parenthood and works quietly behind the scenes in suypport of US campaigns for Save the Children. She has also been involved with the TS Alliance and helps raise awareness for tuberous sclerosis.
“I don’t know why so much emphasis is placed on celebrities who volunteer. Most people do things in their daily lives. It’s just normal.”
Yes, Julianne, it is normal. Most people go about quietly donating their time and energy to special causes. But when a cause can snag a celebrity on the caliber of Madonna or Angelina the world takes notice. When that happens the charity or cause reaps in the benefits. If it seem contrived or a stunt to get a little extra publicity. Well so be it.
