We think Katie Couric is still one hell of a cougar even though her romance has now fizzled with her boy toy, Brooks Perlin, we salute the lady for knowing how to pick em’.

Screw the ratings when you’ve got a hunky looking triathlete with one of the best pedigrees in the country. So who is Brooks Perlin? The prep school-educated son of a rich Connecticut family, he attended prestigious Williams College.

“The age difference scared her off at first,” said a friend of the CBS Evening News anchor. Rumor had it that Perlin had a roving eye with the ladies. Maybe this is what finally did scare her off.

Katie Couric is the anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric a 60 Minutes correspondent and anchor of CBS News primetime specials. When the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric debuted on Sept. 5, 2006, Couric became the first female solo anchor of a weekday network evening news broadcast. She may be one of our favorite cougars, but she’s picked her boytoy with better precision that she has her movies. Forget the fact that Geena Davis hasn’t had a big screen Hollywood hit in some time. Her last hits were in 1991 and 1992 for Thelma and Louise[tag] and [tag]A League Of Their Own. Her Oscar winning performance in The Accidental Tourist (1988) just isn’t carrying much weight these days.

Not only does she appear to have a knack for picking the wrong pictures to showcase her talents, prior to her 4th marriage to Dr. Reza Jarrahy, who’s 15 years her junior, she’s struck out in the marriage department with Jeff Goldblum, (Transylvania 6-5000, The Fly and Earth Girls Are Easy) Richard Emmolo and and Renny Harlin (Cutthroat Island and The Long Kiss Goodnight).

In television she was off to a rocky start with her short-lived sitcom The Geena Davis Show. But this show was the forerunner for better things to come as she guest-starred as Grace Adler’s sister Janet on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace in 2004.

Finally the viewers sat up and took notice as she starred in the ABC television series Commander in Chief as the first female President of the United States. This role captured her a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2006. She also was nominated for a SAG Award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Drama Series and an Emmy Award.

Here’s hoping her newest venture “Exit 19, scheduled to premiere this fall, will give us another round of awards.

Some love stories just pull at the heart strings. This is the story of Britain’s oldest bride. She’s 94 and her boy toy is a measly 86.

It seems that Winston Barraclough met Bess Atkins in 2005 when Winston, a widower, was volunteering as a bus driver for the local hospital. His bus picked her up from her home and he instantly “took a shine” to Bess, a former civil servant, who had been a widow for 40 years. During that first fateful drive, he actually stopped to buy her a box of chocolates!

But it was only later, when she went searching for him, that romance blossomed. “When he dropped me off on that first meeting. I didn’t even know his name but I tracked him down to a shop in the centre I knew he visited,” Bess said.

“I was a bit nervous when I rang him to ask him around for a coffee - I thought he might think I was a fast woman.”

“But we had a great chemistry and I thought why not?”

Bess said Winston proposed to her in January of this year on New Year’s Day.

“Winston said he had something serious to say,” she said. “I thought it was some medical problem and feared the worst,”

Instead he popped the question - “Will you be my wife please. I would love to marry you.” Bess was shocked but I said “Yes, that would be lovely.”

Bess and Winston exchanged vows April 5 at St Nicholas Church in Hornsea, East Yorkshire, which happens to be the same church in which the new Mrs Barraclough first married almost 70 years ago, ten days before the outbreak of the Second World War.

Bess remarked that “Marrying in the same church was lovely and brought back “a lot of happy memories.”

The Rev. Phillip Lamb, who married them, said: “Love has no boundaries. It’s never too late for anyone and Winston and Bess are living proof of that.”

What did I learn from this lovely little tidbit?

• There’s hope for me yet. I need to start considering a boy toy that doesn’t necessary have the physique of Matthew McConaughey.
• I haven’t had a box of chocolates bought for me for some time. The chocolates the children give me get classified under “obligations to the old lady”, and don’t qualify.
• I need to quit hanging around the local coffee shops and Wal Mart and start prowling the bus stops.
• I’d like to know what hospital hires an 83 year old coot to drive it’s buses?

We’re looking forward to statuesque (6 ft. tall) Geena Davis starring as a quirky Manhattan detective, who is also a single mom living in the suburbs, in “Exit 19″ for CBS.

“Exit 19″ was developed at ABC Studios and Davis will serve as a co-executive producer.

Geena’s innate goofiness should fit right in with CBS’s description of “quirky” and give Genna another top television vehicle to showcase her many talents.

Davis, last appeared as the lead in ABC drama Commander in Chief, which ended its run in 2006.

P.S. Did you know that Last year, Davis was approached for the lead on “Criminal Minds” after the exit of star Mandy Patinkin.

It just doesn’t seem fair. Ivana Trump and I are close to the same age. How is it she’s able to land a hot boy toy like Rossano Rubicondi? The best I can do is any guy over 70 who’s had too much to drink normally makes a pass at me. (I think I look like the type that carries a mickey in her purse)

We both have blonde hair and green eyes. She obviously exercises a little more than I do and I’m guessing I’m unlikely to meet Mr. Hot Pants by hanging out at Wal Mart on a Saturday night.

Nevertheless, it pisses me off. Think I’ll make myself feel better by having another piece of that chocolate cake.

I’m glad to see that Julianne Moore and I have something in common. We’re both hungry all the time.

Here’s Julianne’s comments on her diet……

“I still battle with my deeply boring diet of, essentially, yogurt and breakfast cereal and granola bars. I hate dieting. I hate having to do it to be the ‘right’ size. I’m hungry all the time. I think I’m a slender person, but the industry apparently doesn’t. All actresses are hungry all the time, I think.”

I notice that our diets differ somewhat. My diet certainly isn’t boring. I think my Oreo cookies sound a hell of a lot better than her yogurt and granola bars. Of course, if someone would pay me the salary that Julianne enjoys, I might consider her diet. I wonder what my Oreo’s would taste like dipped in yogurt?

Julianne’s comments bring to mind that many actresses and models strive continuously to maintain the image that the world of cinema and fashion dictate.

Every day, we’re bombarded by thousands of images of svelte, slim, 110-pound, beautiful women. On TV and in films, billboards, and magazines, the images of women are all based on what an industry thinks we should look like rather than the real world. Sadly these actresses and models are the only role models for young women.

Donald and Ivana Trump’s separation and subsequent divorce in 1992 were the fodder of the gossip rags for many years. Who would have thought that these two titans would ever “be friends”.

This “patron saint of women scorned” has made an art out of reinventing herself. She’s right up there with the likes of Madonna.

It was rumored that Ivana walked away from the divorce with a reported 25 million+, and proudly declared “don’t get mad, get everything” True to her word, over the 15 years she’s been on a mission to out-trump Trump at every available opportunity.

Ashton Kutcher, the main squeeze of dynamic Demi Moore has put a lot of serious thought into his marriage. He and Demi tied the knot a few years ago amid the tabloid frenzy caused by their age discrepancy of 15 years. He happens to be married to one of the hottest cougars in the world!

When questioned regarding the age difference between he and Demi - “The number is so inconsequential,” he groaned. “I know 40-year-olds who act like they are 10 and I know a lot of 10-year-olds who act like they’re 40. They should change the measure from how long you have been here to how much responsibility you have taken on in your life. “That should be the age barometer. You fill in a docket, send it out to them and they send you back something that says ‘You are actually 50′.”

Ashton say the reason they’ve defied the critics and stayed together is because they have realistic expectations about marriage.

“The biggest problem in general with relationships is guys are raised with a goal of having sex,” he grinned. “But for women, they have these goals of ‘I’m going to get married, then I’m going to have kids’.

“What we’re missing is no one has the goal of being married. They think about the wedding, so no one’s working towards being married as a goal.”

Incredibly, Ashton even claims he didn’t even know the identity of stunning brunette Demi when they first met.

“The first time I ever saw her, I didn’t know who she was,” he smiled. “I sat and talked to her, not having the slightest idea I was talking to a famous person.” Yet when he made his debut red carpet appearance at Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle with Demi and her ex Bruce Willis, this became bigger news than anything he was doing on screen.
