Today is Mother’s Day and the 50th birthday of the birth control pill.

Not to piss on the birthday party, but there is now a new study circulating on the Net that confirms what many of us have known for a long time…… Birth Control Pills Screw With Your Sex Drive!

I had foolishly thought that getting myself a new boy-toy would bring back what seemed to have been slipping away over the years. It turns out that a younger man older women scenario may not work as the culprit to my diminished desire may be rooted in the 30+ years I’ve been on the birth control pill.

Women have a terrible reputation when it comes to our sex drive. We’re portrayed as forever having a “headache” in an effort to avoid a rendezvous between the sheets.

Back To The Pill…..

The birth control pill is being used by nearly 80% of American women who were born after 1945. This new research suggests that the pill may inhibit more than just pregnancy. The pill may also significantly, and perhaps permanently, dampen your sexual drive.

For the past thirty years, researchers and pill users have acknowledged that the pill can cause a number of side effects ranging from weight gain to depression. An additional drawback for many women is that the birth control pill can inhibit sex drive. In particular, the pill appears to:

* decrease libido
* decrease sexual enjoyment
* decrease lubrication during sexual intercourse

Why Does the Pill Affect Sex Drive?

It appears that the birth control pill affects sex drive because it acts directly on a woman’s sexual hormones. In particular, the birth control pill inhibits the production of androgens, including testosterone, in a woman’s ovaries. (Androgens have a direct effect on the pleasure that you experience during sexual intercourse.)

The research isn’t the first to find such a link, said Dr. Irwin Goldstein, director of sexual medicine at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego and a clinical professor of surgery at the University of California, San Diego.

The new study, he said, is “more evidence that when you fool around with hormones, you fool around with your sex life.”

The German research team evaluated 1,086 women, most in a stable relationship with the same partner for six months before answering questions about their sexual functioning and their contraceptive practices.

Using a standard index to measure female sexual function, the researchers found that nearly 33 percent of the women were at risk for female sexual dysfunction. The problems involved a range of factors, such as lack of orgasm, desire, satisfaction, arousal and lubrication.

Before you ditch your pills you need to consider:

At the time the pill promised us worry-free sex and total sexual control even though US officials at the time were very uncomfortable with the oral contraceptive.

Before the Food and Drug Administration approved the first oral contraceptive on May 9, 1960, the only other birth control options were the diaphragm, condoms, the rhythm method, and in extreme cases, sterilization. Those were the more commonly used methods. More unorthodox solutions included vinegar sponges, olive oil, and even bleach. NOT THAT’S FOOD FOR THOUGHT!

I’m thinking it’s time the men “stepped up to the plate” with their own “pill”.

Actor, Michael Douglas recently opened up to Elle Magazine about his seduction at 16 by a couple of his Mom’s friends.

“There were a couple friends of my mother’s when I was 16 and they were 30. I wouldn’t want to get any of them in trouble, but they’re probably all dead by now.”

The actor, who is now married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, was well known for his romantic escapades in his youth and was reportedly admitted to rehab in 1990 to be treated for sex addiction, although Douglas later described the reports as inaccurate. It seems now that his romantic skills were learned first hand by a couple of Mrs. Robinsons

They may be old babes now, but those lucky cougars were the front-runners in another era.

Don’t you just hate this time of year? It seems to me the celebration on February 14th originated with Hallmark Cards. The perfect card, the perfect gift, the perfect date . . . Isn’t there enough pressure in relationships without having to live up to some romantic ideal on Valentine’s Day?

As the day set aside to express your love and devotion to someone has evolved over the centuries, we’ve managed to turn it into a message about how your love may be measured by what you buy.

Where did Valentine’s Day originate? It appears to stem from Imperial Roman times – around the 3rd centruy.

The Romans held a yearly festival in mid February called the Feast Of Lupercus. One of the customs associated with the feast was the drawing of girl’s names from a vase. On Lupercus Eve the young men would drawn these names and the girl he chose would be his sexual companion for the year. (now that sounds like a plan…..)

The Emperor Claudius believed that the best way to keep his army strong was not to allow the soldiers to marry and have families, the logic being that being tied down to their family would interfere with their work for the Empire. During his reign he outlawed marriages and the custom of a yearly sexual companion associated with the Feast was upheld.

Predictably, many of the soldiers and their partners fell in love and they wanted to participate in the union of marriage and pledge their eternal devotion to each other. Desperate, some couples turned to the new religion of Christianity.

A local Roman priest, Father Valentine agreed to marry the desperate couples secretly. Valentine was clearly defying the Emperor, who eventually found out. The Emperor ordered Valentine to renounce his faith. While confined in jail it is said that Valentine either fell in love with the jailer’s daughter or cured her of blindness. In the story where he cured the young maiden of blindness it is said that she fell so madly in love with him that she tried to have his life spared. Love letters were exchanged in both stories and on the day of his execution by beheading he left her a note and signed it “From your Valentine”.

Today we know February 14th as St. Valentine’s Day because as the religion Christianity became more prevalent in “modern society”, the concerned priests wanted to abolish the pagan custom of The Feast of Lupercus. Unfortunately, due to the popularity, the priests could not just abolish the holiday for fear of losing newly acquired followers. Instead it was decided to Christianize the pagan celebration of the Feast of Lupercus by changing the name and to give further Christian meaning to the day.

St. Valentine was chosen as his association with honouring true love seemed appropriate. The popular custom of drawing girls’ names that was associated with the Feast was substituted for Saints’ names. Then on St. Valentine’s Day these Saints’ names would be drawn by young people. The youth were supposed to emulate their chosen Saint for the following year. This custom lasted until the fourteenth century.

Sometime during the Middle Ages men and women began to exchange hand-made cards on St. Valentine’s Day. Another tradition had been born. These cards were elaborately decorated and contained love dedications and even proposals of marriage. They were never signed, as this was considered bad luck, and thus the tradition of the “secret admirer” started. Valentine’s Day cards increased in popularity during the 1700s and the cards were made with the precious materials of satin, ribbon and lace. This was expensive and so most of the general population could not participate. With the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain in the 1800s commercial valentines became available. These cards were still expensive and some were so ornate that they could cost upwards of $10!

The next century saw a new form of Valentine’s Day cards called the “Penny Dreadful”. These cards were cheap and almost anyone could afford them because they only cost a penny – as the name implies. They were made cheaply, the artwork amateurish and the colouring uneven. The cards contained insults to old maids, teachers and the like (another idea that we may want to bring back). As time passed these hateful sentiments disappeared and were discarded for the more thoughtful sentiments of romance, love, admiration and friendship.

Valentine’s Day has changed dramatically over the centuries, and is now celebrated as a cheap commercial holiday in which we can all buy five dollar dreadfuls to give to our loved ones. Despite this, Valentine’s Day is still one of your best chances to get lucky. So go out there get some lovin.

I have spent countless thousands cruising, touring and vacationing in all corners of the globe with little or not luck in in this area. Finding a gigilo while travelling just isn’t what it used to be!

I didn’t know I was looking in all the wrong places. I’ve just discovered that I should have been visiting Turkey! A Turkish holiday resort hotel has sacked its entire male staff over their affairs and seductions with female guests.

Manager Pelin Yucel was quoted as saying: “It got beyond a joke. The last straw was when I caught my bartender coming out of a toilet with a woman guest.

“She was embarrassed but he was beaming all over his face.”

The 27-bedroom Image Hotel in Marmaris, where most of the guests are British or Russian, now employs only female staff.

Pelin added that she could rarely reach her night porter because “he was always in bed with one of the customers.

“The waiters would prey on older English women staying at the hotel. They would wait for them to come back from nights out — often drunk — then seduce them.

“They would have one guest one week, wave goodbye to her, and eye up the new guests as they arrived. It was hell.”

It’s a hell I’d have like to spent a week at!

Is it any wonder that 34% of women over 40 are dating man who are younger than themselves? The kittens or younger women are busy trying to figure out what the hell they want out of life. Many still believe that they need a relationship to find happiness. They still believe in the dream wedding, the picket fence and living happily ever after, and they’re spending most of their time trying to find someone who’ll give it to them. They haven’t yet discovered that you can be happy even if you are single.

The cougar or mature women seem to have eclipsed this time of their lives. What’s more [tag]sexy than having the confidence to know that you can do everything a younger woman can and probably do it better.

Cougars have confidence and wisdom working for them. Somewhere through the years the cougar has discovered that happiness is not dependent on someone else. BoyToy or GirlToy -  I’m as confused as hell.

On the heels of a ruling that struck down California’s laws against gay marriage, Ellen DeGeneres announced her plans to wed longtime girl-toy, Portia de Rossi. Ellen, 50, and her longtime love (since 2004 which can be “longtime” by Hollywood Standards), Portia who’s 35, made the announcement before Ellen’s cheering audience.

The California’s Supreme Court ruled that people have a fundamental “right to marry” the partner of their choosing – therefore the previous ban on gay marriage was ruled unconstitutional.

One key to their happiness, DeGeneres said last year, is that they learn from one another. “She’s taught me lessons about myself, and I feel like I’ve taught her,” said the TV host. “We’ve both changed and grown, and we just feel like, ‘Oh, okay, this is completion.’ ”

Seems to me Ellen had similar things to say about wierd Anne Heche at one time!

Boy-Toys Speed Dating Event To Catch A Sugar Mama

Why would 5,000 hunky American men want to attend a speed dating event featuring women over 35? Duh!

The ladies who attended the speed dating event in New York needed to prove they had over 4 million in assets and earned over $500,000 per year. The ladies were on the prowl for boy-toys.

Of the 5,000 potential boytoys, only 20 were selected.

Men tend to date downwards and the older a woman gets the harder it is for her to find a partner. It’s a trend that is changing. The US National Association of Retired Persons surveyed its members a couple of years ago and found that 34 per cent of all women over 40 were dating younger men. But, by and large, women who are single in their mid to late-fifties find it much harder to get a date than women in their late-thirties.

This site is out to change that statistic. Older women and younger men are the way to go.
