In the movie Escape from L.A. (1996) with Los Angeles in ruins Snake Plissken walks up Hollywood Boulevard and looks up to see a pristine Angelyne billboard.

In the movie "The Day After Tomorrow", a news reporter covering a tornado outbreak in downtown L.A. is struck and killed by an Angelyne billboard thrown at him by one of the tornadoes.

She is the author of an as-yet unfilmed screenplay 'The Bra that Ate L.A.'

California Election Draws Angelyne To Throw In Her Bra

In 2003, California voters replaced incumbent Democratic Governor Gray Davis with Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger. The process to elect the next Governor included many celebrities including our little geriatric hustler, Angelyne.

The phrase “Only In California” comes to mind as we look at some of the candidates in the California Recall Election:

Angelyne whose slogan during the campaign was “We’ve had Gray, we’ve had Brown, now it’s time for some blond and pink.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Hollywood actor
Mary “Mary Carey” Cook, Porn Star
Arianna Huffington, columnist and author
Leo Gallagher, comedian
Kurt E. “Tachikaze” Rightmyer, Sumo wrestler
Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler magazine
Gary Coleman, actor
Georgina Russell, who grabbed media attention by selling “Georgy for Governor” thongs

There were 135 candidates in the California election. Angelyne managed to finish 28th.
P.S. Angelyne was also a candidate for Hollywood city council in 2002 if it were to secede from Los Angeles.
